Eau de Parfum Strength

Each fragrance is carefully diluted to Eau de Parfum strength, containing between 12-18% concentrated oil expertly blended with alcohol. This concentration offers a balanced and long-lasting olfactory experience. This also makes every bottle last longer and creates less waste.

Compliance with IFRA Standards

We take pride in adhering to safety standards. Many essential oils and absolutes, such as Jasmine and Rose Damascena, along with synthetic chemicals like eugenol and hydroxycitronellal, are used in our fragrances at levels that align closely with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) 49th Amendment standards.

PROCESSING TIME:

Discovery kits ship within 1-3 business days. Wedding Packages can take up to 60 days, as they are made to order. We design and create your order specifically for you.

We are a small family owned artisan brand, that small batch, bottle and label every bottle by hand.

We only ship USPS Ground to mainland USA due to the alcohol content of our product.. Per federal law, perfumes can only be shipped using ground transportation and cannot be shipped using air transportation.

Crafting a Fragrance: The Susan James Perfume Journey

Creating a fragrance is a harmonious blend of precision, patience, and artistry. Here’s how our vision takes shape:

Inspiration & Creation
Every fragrance begins with a spark of inspiration—a story, a feeling, or a moment captured in scent. Susan composes this "brief," often experimenting with dozens of trials, known as "mods," to bring the vision to life. This process can take months, sometimes even a year, as she refines the nuances and ensures every note resonates with the intended emotion.

Formulation
Once Susan is satisfied with her composition, the perfume is prepared at 100% material strength. This meticulous process can involve up to 100 individual ingredients. Each is measured with care in a pristine workspace, a process requiring focus and precision that takes several hours.

Maturation
After blending, the fragrance rests for about a month. This maturation allows the ingredients to harmonize, ensuring the final composition is as seamless as it is captivating.

Dilution
The matured compound is then diluted into a carrier and chilled for a few days. This step ensures stability and purity before the final refinement.

Filtering
Many of our natural materials contain waxes or subtle impurities. We use vacuum filtration to achieve clarity and purity. As the perfume is left to breathe post-filtration, the studio fills with its enchanting aroma—an experience as delightful as the fragrance itself.
