Scent No. D

This one started, like many of my favorites, with a scent memory. I was standing in our garden, brushing against a lemon tree heavy with bloom, and for a moment, it didn’t feel like a busy Los Angeles, it felt like time had slowed. The sun was bright but soft. The breeze smelled of citrus peel and clean laundry. That moment stuck.

I wanted to bottle that feeling in a tactile, lived-in kind of way. Something like my white linen dress shirt that’s been washed a hundred times (bought it with my mom on vacation in Greece) still crisp but softened with wear. That was the north star for Batch No. 4.

The Scent Journey

The fragrance opens with a burst of citrus; yuzu, blood orange, and bergamot - feels juicy and uplifting. But instead of going sweet or sugary, I added a trace of green leaves to keep things grounded. It’s like walking through a citrus grove her in California, just after the sprinklers shut off: the fruit is glistening, the air is damp, and the light is golden.

Then the orange blossom comes in. It’s narcotic and a little bitter, but not overwhelming. Balanced with magnolia, mimosa, and a hint of jasmine, the heart stays airy and luminous.

The drydown is where it all settles into something calm and warm. Amber, clean musk, and guaiacwood give the scent its polished texture, like the faint warmth of skin after a day in the sun. Vetiver adds structure, and tonka bean offers a creamy, almond-like smoothness that lingers ever so subtly.

This batch is my ode to mornings that feel like silk pajamas and sunlight. To the beauty of Sundays and the quiet joy of a well-balanced scent. I wasn’t trying to impress anyone with this one,I just wanted it to feel good. And it does.
