Who is Susan James
Susan James Fragrances is the love child of Danish olfactory artist Susan Ankersen and Creative Director James Nissen. Established in 2023 in their sunny SoCal studio, they craft ultra-luxury, small batch fragrances for personalized scent-memory experiences and events.

With over a decade creating olfactory art and perfumery, Susan has exhibited her work at museums globally. Her scents were also exhibited at NASA, blending science and scent in ways that go beyond the ordinary. Many compositions take years to perfect, with each blend resting for months to allow every note to fully bloom and harmonize.

While some offer on-site blending experiences using pre-made fragrance oils, we take a different approach. At our Los Angeles perfumery, each fragrance is thoughtfully composed as an original creation, crafted from carefully selected aromatics and fine essences. We blend, bottle, and personalize your fragrances ahead of time, ensuring an exquisite and uniquely memorable scent for your celebration.

Our Discovery Set presents eight artisan scents, allowing you to indulge in an aromatic getaway from the comfort of your home. Each 2ml vial contains about 20 sprays, providing plenty for multiple trials and even sharing with friends. Take your time to explore. Depending on the package you choose, deliverables varies.
We design and create your order specifically for you, every bottle and label or engraving is made to order. Wedding packages can take up to 60 days, depending on the quantity of juice you will need.
For custom perfumes creations, the minimum is 4 months. Composing a formula takes time, and with every modification there is rest time involved for the molecules to settle together.
We will try our best to get your order out ass fast as possible. As a small, family-owned artisan brand, every scent is blended, bottled, and labeled by hand. Please Contact us with your timeline and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Our fragrances are meticulously formulated using a blend of natural botanical materials and man-made molecules, adhering to IFRA safety guidelines. This harmonious fusion creates scents that are safer and can be fresh and also long lasting, which is not possible with naturals alone. They’re always cruelty free and formulated without parabens, phthalates, colorants, and fragerance oils.
